What an amazing group of bright, talented, and energetic people! We still have a couple of positions to fill before we begin the school year. I would also like to welcome Mrs. Rashawn Coleman-Walker in her new role as assistant principal. She has already taken charge of many tasks and projects! From Mrs. Rashawn:

I am honored to have been selected as assistant principal of John Taylor Williams Secondary Montessori. I am thrilled to join this phenomenal team of staff, parents, and students in building a strong secondary Montessori program in Charlotte.

I grew up and attended school in North Augusta, SC.  My husband, Kevin, and I have a 9-year-old son, Tyler. When I’m not at a swim meet with Tyler, I enjoy traveling, reading mysteries, and completing HGTV home projects with my family.  Our most recent project was installing hardwood floors in our home.  It took us 6 days, 9 hours, 14 minutes, 2 seconds and only 14 “I told you this wasn’t going to be easy” statements.

My education includes a B.A. degree in Psychology from Winthrop University, MAT in Special Education from University of North Carolina-Charlotte, and Educational Leadership degree from Gardner Webb University.  My entire career has been with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.  For the past 9 years, I served as the EC Resource Teacher at Chantilly Montessori.  While in the role, I have been assigned numerous leadership roles, such as ILT/Curriculum Team facilitator, MTSS contact, and EC Compliance Facilitator.

As an educator, I believe all students can and will learn.  Each child is unique and special, so we must personalize learning for all.  And when working as a team we accomplish great things.

I look forward to being a member of this team, working with the staff, students, and parents, and getting to know each of you.

Rashawn Coleman-Walker
