We appreciate our teachers and staff!  

Thank you for the incredible work you do each day to shape, grow and challenge the minds and spirits of our children.  We are grateful for each of you and all of the gifts you bring to our school community.

Teacher Appreciation Week is underway.  Thank you to Sherry Picerno for coordinating treats and surprises for our staff and to our families for supporting Sherry’s efforts.

End of Year Testing  

We are counting down to the end of another great school year!   Below is our testing scheduling for the end of the year.

May 25th- EOG Reading (MS)

May 29th- EOG Math (MS)

                 EOC Math 1 and NCFE Math 2, Math 3 (HS)

May 30th- EOG Science (MS)

                 EOC Biology (HS)

May 31st-  EOC English II (HS)

                  NCFE English I, English III (HS)

June 1st-   NCFE American History (HS)


If you haven’t volunteered for EOG proctoring, now is your chance 😀.  We need 6 proctors for each day of testing.  Testing will begin on May 25th.

Help Wanted: Seeking 2018-19 PTSO Leaders

Available PTSO positions for the 2018/2019 School Year:

  • President Elect – Serve on the PTSO Executive Board in 2018-19 as support/ back-up to the President; serve as PTSO President in 2019-20

  • Treasurer Elect – Serve on the PTSO Executive board in 2018-19 as Assistant Treasurer, helping the Treasurer collect and disburse money, run reports, etc.; serve as PTSO Treasurer in 2019-20

  • Communications Lead – Coordinate weekly newsletter and website updates

  • Social Committee Chairperson – Coordinate family social events for the school community (for example, the school picnics)

  • Service Opportunity Coordinator – Identify/collect and share service opportunities that Williams students can participate in

  • Fundraising Coordinator – Investigates opportunities for and coordinates PTSO fundraisers outside of Invest in Secondary and Retail Loyalty programs

  • Historian/Alumni Coordinator

Last Call for Yearbook orders

The only way to guarantee that your child receives a yearbook is to pre-order one, order yours today.  Yearbooks cost $35.00.


Spring Dance

Williams Montessori’s Spring Dance will be held Friday, May 18 from 7:00-9:00 pm.

Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased during lunch periods.

 Parents may sign up to help with this event on our sign up genius.  We need volunteers to set up, clean up and bring helium balloons.


Spring Family Picnic

The Peer Leaders Club is planning a Spring Family Picnic for Thursday, May 17, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the Quad.

Families should bring a picnic dinner and blanket and or chairs.  Dessert and drinks will be provided by the PTSO.

Rebecca Farlow is looking for 1 more parent volunteer to stay after school with students, volunteers would stay from 4:15-5:30 pm.  All volunteers must fill out the CMS Volunteer Application.  Please make sure you are current volunteer in the CMS system or fill out the form on the above link.  Keep in mind that all volunteers need to complete this form every year.

Students are welcome to stay after school on the afternoon of the picnic and parents will need to email Rebecca Farlow to give permission for their student to stay after school until 5:30 pm.  Students may only stay after school if their parent is planning to attend the picnic. Students may not be at the picnic without a parent.

CMS is hiring Substitute Teachers

If you are interested in supporting the school as a Substitute Teacher, apply here. CMS accepts applications every other month, and will once again take applications in May.


Robotics and Technology Club

Robotics and Technology students are approaching their final meeting and we are excited for them to anticipate guests on May 21st from 4:30-5:00. We’ve spent this year cultivating interest and creating a space for student collaboration and small group, hands-on exploration. May 7th, students will discuss potential showcase options for parent visitors who might like to attend May 21st. This showcase will not take much time, so please feel free to stop in and see what Robotics and Technology Club has been up to this year!

Book Club

The Book Club has officially finished A Wrinkle In Time!  We read the book and just before Spring Break, were able to squeeze in a viewing of the movie…so interesting!!   We enjoyed a sharing our thoughts about the differences (and similarities!), likes and dislikes about both!

The club voted and Ready Player One won out for the next selection.  We’re looking forward to more lively discussions!

Theater Department News

Davidson Community Players Teen Summer Stock Series is holding auditions Saturday, May 12th at the Armour Street Theater in Davidson for students ages 14-22.



Soccer Club


Support our Soccer Club by coming out and watching our games. Be sure to wear your WM spirit wear!  Our record is 5 and 2 so far this season and our team is ranked 3rd out of 12 teams. Way to go Trailblazers!  Tournament begins next weekend.


Ultimate Frisbee Team

We are still looking for players and can work together on carpooling if that is an issue. Young women, young men, middle and high school are all welcome to join! Practices are Tuesdays and Wednesdays—if you can’t make it to both, you can come to just one; games are on Thursdays.

Play Ultimate Frisbee over the summer with the Charlotte Ultimate Youth Summer League!


Peer Leaders Club

Peer Leaders is a club that is designed to enliven the spirit of our school. This group will plan events such as spirit week, mix-it-up lunches, random acts of kindness, school dances, and more!

Peer Leaders generally meet every other Friday at 8am, but have also been participating in working lunches. Please see below for meeting dates for the remainder of the year:

Yoga Club

Yoga Club is designed to support students with individual growth and empowerment through the practice of yoga. Students will learn how to apply principles learned on the mat in their daily lives!

Yoga Club has been lucky enough to get a HUGE discount at Yoga One ($5/class!). We have been enjoying Power Flow as well as Power Beats classes (music)! Please see below for meeting dates for the remainder of the year:

  • Saturday, May 12th at 11:30 at Yoga One Central (please arrive no later than 11:15), with free meditation afterwards, which ends at 1.

  • Monday, May 21st from 5:30-6:30 (I can drive up to 6 students from Williams to Yoga One Central)

  • Wednesday, June 6th from 5:30-6:30 (I can drive up to 6 students from Williams to Yoga One Central)

Bike Commute – Two Wheel Tuesday

Thanks to all that participated in National Bike to School Day on Tuesday, May 8th.  It was a great day for a bike ride!

Next commute, Tuesday May 15

 Bring – bike – helmet – water – bike lock – backpack/pannier

Meet in Freedom Park by the train playground for a 7:30 am departure.

1st stop – Elizabeth Ave. and the greenway (CPCC) – arrive 7:45 – Parking is available.

 2nd stop – 9th and the Rail Trail (The Charlotte Lab School) – arrive 8:00 – Parking is available.

 3rd stop – VBGB’s – 8:20 – parking available.

Return in the afternoon, aiming to leave WM by 4:20 and back to Freedom Park by 5:15.

This 7 mile route takes us approximately 60 minutes to complete including stops.

Invest Campaign

 Thank you Williams families for your generous support of the Invest in Secondary Montessori Annual Campaign.

We have raised a total of $7,509.86 though family and matching contributions.

With the donation from Chantilly Montessori we have raised $11,725.86 of our $14,000 Income Budget Goal.

Link your Harris Teeter VIC card (if you shop at Harris Teeter) to  JT Williams Secondary Montessori. We are #1430.  Up to 5 schools can be linked to your VIC card. Harris Teeter requires that you sign up each school year.  If you haven’t signed up for the 2017/2018 school year, please sign up as soon as you can. Williams Montessori has received $136.00 in rewards from Harris Teeter but can’t receive this money until we reach $250!  Help us reach $250, sign up today (you can sign up online!).
